The container in which tea is brewed - not to be confused with the kettle in which the water is heated to the required temperature. It can be produced in various materials (pottery, porcelain, glass, iron and so on), in various shapes - often spherical (with spout and handle) or as a commemorative piece (much like Toby Jugs). It may have a filter to contain loose tea (though sometimes the way in which the tea leaves are spread around the pot is used in fortune telling).
Traditionally the formula for teapots is one spoonful per person and 'one for the pot' - the actual quantity used is very much for personal taste.
Sometimes a tea cosy is needed over the tea pot to ensure that the tea reamains at the best quality throughout usage. A tea cosy is somewhat like a woolen blanket wrapped around the teapot.
